2024 Ucluelet Fishing Charters Wrap-Up

Thanks for a Great Summer on the Water

Big thanks to everyone who jumped aboard one of our Ucluelet fishing charters this summer. July and August on the West Coast of Vancouver Island delivered exactly what we hope for—good weather windows, strong tides, and plenty of action. Sharing long days on the water with great people is what makes a season like this one stand out.

Ucluelet Fishing Report: July & August 2024

Summer fishing in Ucluelet showed up in a big way during July and August 2024. Consistent conditions, healthy bait, and active fish made for reliable fishing across Barkley Sound and surrounding offshore grounds. Whether we were close to shore or running farther out, there was always something happening.

July Fishing Report

July brought classic Ucluelet salmon fishing. Chinook and coho were on the chew, with steady action throughout the month. Offshore areas held cooler water and good bait, keeping fish moving and aggressive. We spent time working productive zones around Barkley Sound, Long Beach, and Big Bank, adjusting tactics as conditions changed.

Trolling was the go-to approach, and guests were treated to strong hits, long runs, and plenty of bent rods. July is hard to beat for anglers looking to experience peak summer fishing on Vancouver Island.

August Fishing Report

August kept the momentum going and added more variety to the mix. Salmon fishing stayed solid, while bottom fishing really came into its own. We actively targeted halibut and lingcod around reefs, drop-offs, and other prime structure, giving anglers a shot at these iconic West Coast species. Some lucky anglers even scored bonus halibut while trolling for salmon, adding a bit of unexpected excitement to the day.

Weather windows in August allowed for flexible planning and access to a wider range of fishing grounds. It was a great month for anglers who like options and enjoy full days on the water without rushing back to the dock.
